Our Strengths

A 15% reduction in recorded crime during 1999-2002 (being the period
of the first statutory crime and disorder strategy).

Introduction of Divisional Response Unit to tackle persistent
criminal/anti social behaviour.
Development of robust procedure dealing with recorded incidents of
anti social behaviour.

Introduction of Youth Inclusion Programme (YIP), Co-ordination of Social
Inclusion Programmes (COSIP), and DOPI.

Introduction of policy to tackle racism, including establishment of a
minority ethnic steering group.

Introduction of a policy to tackle hate crime, including establishment
of a steering group comprising Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transsexual persons.

A window and door replacement programme which has received national
recognition.

Deployment of the Multi Agency Resource Centre (MARC) vehicle in

Successful pilot scheme of introducing street wardens in a target area
