The strategic planning and management of education and training takes place
at a county level through the Local Education Authority (LEA) and the Learning
Skills Council (LSC). Within this context the Derwentside Education and Training
Forum develops local policy to bring together national and county initiatives
into a local context. The key cross-cutting challenges for the future are a
networked approach to 14-19 provision and full service schooling.
