The Development of Derwentside as a ‘Learning District’
Objectives:

To establish a clear strategy for community learning across the
district.

across the District.

Key Issue 2 - The lack of a coherent, integrated 14-19 strategy for Derwentside
Aim:
To develop a 14-19 curriculum for the 21st century
Objectives:

Research current curriculum provision.

Develop a coherent and appropriate framework for a Derwentside 14-19
curriculum which is able to respond to changing learner needs.
Key Issue 3:
The need to provide integrated multi-service provision convenient to
communities
Aim:
The Development of Full Service Schooling (FSS)
Objectives:

Develop models of full service schooling applicable to Derwentside.
Key Issue 4:
The need to include as many pupils as possible in their local mainstream
school
Aim:
The development of alternative approaches to the inclusion of pupils with
special needs
Objectives:

Establish a reliable data collection and progress tracking system for
pupils with special educational needs (SEN).

Develop a multi-agency approach to inclusive assessment and provision
for pupils with SEN.
