The development of alternative approaches to the inclusion of pupils with
special needs.

| Establish a reliable data collection and progress tracking
system for pupils with special educational needs (SEN).. |

- Collate information and establish a Derwentside SEN database.
- Use information with other agencies to establish patterns of
referral
and provision in: Tanfield/Stanley cluster and Moorside/Blackfyne
cluster.

- To have in place a reliable and comprehensive electronic performance
tracking system for all pupils with SEN accessible by all relevant
agencies.
- Through the use and analysis of performance data to establish the
relative effectiveness of assessment and provision models to ensure
that education for all pupils with SEN meets their needs as inclusively
as possible.

- Develop a base for multi-agency working (Caretaker’s house at

Comprehensive school).
- Appoint an Inclusion Co-ordinator to manage implementation.
- Pilot Holistic Assessment Tool in school clusters.

- To have established procedures for a multi-agency approach to the
earliest identification of SEN, and to provision as close to the pupil
or student’s home as possible, with excellent transition between
schools and from school to post 16.
- To ensure that all pupil/students with particular educational needs
have an inclusive education which allows them to meet their potential
and which is supported by a custom-made package of inter-agency
support.
