| Impact by 2010 |
- The national target is to reduce smoking rates among manual groups
from 32% to 26% by 2010 from the 1998 baseline. The local target is to
have 1,530 people from all groups in Derwentside successfully quitting
at four weeks by 2006.
- The local target is to reduce the proportion of women who continue
to smoke throughout pregnancy by 1% per year, with the proportion of
women continuing to smoke in pregnancy falling from 22.7% in 2002 to
18.6% in 2006.
