Emerging Issues
-
The Derwentside Partnership has agreed that a strategy to address health
inequalities in Derwentside is needed and should be produced. This will
include the development of information on health inequalities within
Derwentside in order to identify local priorities and targets, and to
monitor progress in reducing local health inequalities. The strategy will
need to address such emerging issues as tobacco control and obesity.

The introduction of Children’s Centres will mean that additional wards
will benefit from Sure Start models of working. However, this also means
that it will be even more important for organisations to work in partnership
to ensure this way of working becomes a core activity. A need to increase resources to develop community capacity to engage in
the decision making processes.
