To support the growth and competitiveness of existing businesses

| Extending Business Clustering Initiatives. |
| Action |
- A Derwentside Energy Saving Company (ESCO) will be established to
assist with the purchasing of utilities and services.
- Expand membership of the Derwentside Engineering Forum to the
broader
manufacturing sector.
- Participation by the Forum in a pilot project to create a
collaborative trading hub with member companies from the Northern
Defence Initiative.

- Businesses will be assisted with bulk purchasing and inter-trading,
while the ESCO support service will allow cost savings for SMEs.
- The Derwentside Engineering Forum will have extended its role and

- An ICT business support service will be established to deliver ICT
training, broadband connectivity, provision of web servers and hosting,
digital printing and IP telephony.
