Key Issue 1:

Need for more effective and structured Community Support
 

Aim:

Enhance the structures and increase the effectiveness of Community Support

 

Objectives:

  • Enable communities of geography, interest and identity to become fully involved in local decision making.

  • Build capacity of statutory organisations to effectively engage and support communities across Derwentside.

  • Increase opportunities for volunteering that will contribute to the well-being of communities across Derwentside.

Lack of transport is a barrier to community participation


Aim:

Improve transport links to community resources

 

Objectives:

  • Ensure appropriate transport to mitigate barriers to accessing community facilities, resources and opportunities.

Young People need support to involve, enable and sustain them, in issues that affect them


Aim:

Involving young people in local decision making

 

Objectives:

  • Ensure young people have appropriate opportunities to be part of local decision making processes.

Improving Communications and the co-ordination of Information Sharing

Aim:

Ensure all communities in Derwentside have access to all relevant information

Need to ensure that services and communities are accessible to all people regardless of race, age, ethnicity, gender, disability, religion or sexuality

Improving Access to Community Resources

  • Ensure all communities in Derwentside are able to access appropriate community resources relevant to their needs.
