Key Issue 4:

Improving Communications and the co-ordination of Information Sharing
 

Aim:

Ensure all communities in Derwentside have access to all relevant information.


Objective:
Enable Communities of geography, interest and identity to become fully involved in local decision making.
Action
  • SRB Community Capacity Building project.

Impact by 2010
  • Community information points available in every ward in Derwentside.
  • “LSP News/update” to every household twice a year. A genuine Partnership approach in communication. Joint protocols established in relation to communicating with the public. (Durham County Council, Derwentside District Council, Primary Care Trust, Police).

Objective:
Build capacity of statutory organisations to effectively engage and support communities across Derwentside.
Action
  • Formal training for key personnel for District and County Councils, PCT and Police in Community engagement. Also Joint Protocols to be established between main public bodies in relation to community engagement and consultation.
  • SRB Community Resource Network.

  • All Community Partnerships to produce twice yearly newsletter for every household in their area.
  • All households in Derwentside will receive regular updates on developments in Derwentside.
  • Central resource to support community groups, organisations to produce their own community information.
  • All communities in Derwentside will have access to information that is relevant to their community.
