International Women's Week

Aspirations Begin @ Home

The AB@H project focuses upon raising young people's educational aspirations and achievements. The project is also helping adults to develop their IT skills though access to the internet and comprehensive training schemes.

Macmillan Advice and Information Centre

Macmillan Cancer Relief will be holding information and advice sessions at Annfield Plain Library, every Thursday morning. The sessions are for people with cancer and/or their carers.

Green Corridor Neighbourhood Partnerships Award

Fire Crew Saves Christmas

Green Box Recycling Scheme

The Green Box Recycling Scheme operates across the districts of Wear Valley, Derwentside and Teesdale.  The scheme aims to reduce the amount of household waste sent for disposal and therefore helps to protect our local environment.

The Partnership has for the second year running been assessed as top-performing. Only one of the 3 LSP’s within the North East to be given a green traffic light assessment.

£4.31MILLION TO DERWENTSIDE TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE

Derwentside will benefit as part of a package to help tackle crime, anti-social behaviour, education, housing, liveability, health inequalities and worklessness, through a further £4.31m of Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF), covering the period 2006-2008.

Tackling Crime, Disorder and Drugs

This strategy is a response to the key local crime and disorder concerns in the district, identified by the statutory audit and consultation process under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

It sets out what the Derwentside Community Safety Partnership is going to do to tackle these issues from April 2005 to March 2008.

Children's Centre for Burnhope
A Children's Centre will be developed in Burnhope between 2004 – 2006. The proposed site being Burnhope Primary and Nursery School and will provide 18 full time day care places

The Performance of the Derwentside Partnership has been officially categorised as ‘green’ using a traffic light system of assessment by GONE

Cash to help children in Derwentside
The Derwentside Partnership has been allocated £131,735 for 2004/2005 to create better links between us and the Children’s Fund programme, and between us and young people aged 5 – 13

Football and the Community
GO-NE recently offered the Derwentside Partnership 20 tickets for the England – Ukraine match held at St James Park on 18th August 2004, for the use by young people. This is part of a wider initiative to engage disadvantaged young people through sport.
