In the school year 2004/05 13.4% of children in Derwentside were over and 10.8% were obese

Principles of sustainability applied to the development, regeneration and conservation of the built-environment

  The percentage of homes built on previously developed land has increased from 50 in 2004/05 to 71.86% in 2005/06  
 
 

Lifelong Learning

 
 

The percentage of pupils attaining 5 A*-C GCSE's in our 6 mainstream secondary schools has risen from 41.1% in 2002 to 46.7% in 2005.

 
 
 

Strong Communities

 
 

80.8% of residents think that for their local area, over the past 3 years, community activities have got better or stayed the same

 
     
 

Children & Young People

 
 

Young people's engagement in decision making is actively encouraged through a wide range of organisations

 
 
 

Economy

 
 

The number of long term unemployed has fallen from 19.3% in 2001 to 3.9% in 2005 and is significantly lower than the national rate of 13.9%

 
 
 

Community Safety

 
 

In the two years up to 2003/04 burglary had been reduced by 32%. The Home Office have set a further target for reduction of 10% by 2008
